Characteristics and scope of application

It is the most commonly used alloy structural steel, with higher tensile strength, yield strength and hardenability than No. 40 steel, but limited weldability and a tendency to form cracks. Used for more important quenched and tempered parts, such as parts working under alternating loads, parts with medium speeds and medium loads. After surface quenching, it can be used to make parts with high load and wear resistance but without great impact, such as gears, sleeves, shafts, crankshafts, and pins.
