How wipers work:
Car wipers are used to remove rain, snow or dust from car glass to ensure good visibility for the driver. The wiper is an important safety part. It can work at high temperatures (80 degrees Celsius above) and low temperatures (30 degrees Celsius below zero); it can resist corrosion by acids, alkali, salt and other harmful substances; its service life reaches 150,000 wipe cycles. (passenger car).
Wipers are divided into front wipers and rear wipers. Due to different driving devices, there are three types of wipers: vacuum, pneumatic and electric. At present, electric wipers are widely used on vehicles. Electric wipers are mainly composed of DC motors, worm gear boxes, cranks, connecting rods, swing rods and wiper blades.
Usually the motor and worm gear box are combined into one to form the wiper motor assembly. Rods such as cranks, connecting rods, and swing rods convert the rotation of the worm gear into the reciprocating swing of the swing arm, allowing the wiper blade on the swing arm to realize the wiper action. The power source of the wiper comes from the electric motor, which is the core of the entire wiper system and generally uses a DC permanent magnet motor.
The wiper motor adopts a 3-brush structure to facilitate speed changes. The intermittent time is controlled by the intermittent relay, which uses the return switch contact of the motor and the charge and discharge function of the relay's resistance and capacitance to make the wiper sweep according to a certain period. The wiper blade strip is a tool that directly removes rainwater and dirt from the glass. The scraper strip is pressed against the glass surface through the spring strip, and its lip must match the angle of the glass to achieve the required performance.
Wiper blades are divided into two structures: bone wipers and boneless wipers. Bone wipers are traditional wipers with a metal bracket; boneless wipers are without metal brackets. From a design principle, the more fulcrums the wiper has, the more uniform the force on the wiper blade will be, and the more docile the wiper blade will be in contact with the glass, thus achieving a better water removal effect. The boneless wiper does not have a bracket and uses the entire wiper blade itself to pressurize it. This is equivalent to the entire wiper blade being a stress point, so the boneless wiper is more effective than the bone wiper.
Generally, there is a wiper control knob on the car combination switch handle, with three gears: low speed, high speed and intermittent. At the top of the handle is the washer button switch. When the switch is pressed, washing water will be sprayed out, which can be used with the wiper to wash the windshield.
The washer system is a very common device on cars. It consists of a water storage tank, a water pump, a water pipe, and a water spray nozzle. The water storage tank is generally a 1.5-2 liter plastic tank, and the water pump is a miniature electric centrifugal pump, which transports the washing water from the water storage tank to the water spray nozzle, and the washing water is divided into small particles through the squeeze of the water spray nozzle. The jet sprays towards the windshield and cooperates with the wiper to clean the windshield.
In addition to the car body, car headlights were also equipped with light wipers in the past. But now this technology has been replaced, and many models use high-pressure spray to clean the lights.
The wipers of some high-end vehicles are also equipped with an electronic speed regulator. The speed regulator has a sensing function and can automatically adjust the swing speed of the rain arm according to the amount of rain. The wiper arm rotates faster when it rains heavily, and when it rains lightly, the wiper arm rotates faster. Slowly, the wiper arm stops when the rain stops.
Nowadays, the development of wipers has been very mature, but this does not mean that wipers will stop progressing. Maybe one day in the future, wipers will be more convenient and practical, and even have unexpected functions.
